เมื่อวันที่ 18-19 พฤศจิกายน 2568 นายบัญชา ยืนยงจงเจริญ รองอธิบดีกรมการกงสุล พร้อมด้วยนายสัณห์ อรุณรักษ์ติชัย ผู้อำนวยการกองตรวจลงตราและเอกสารเดินทางคนต่างด้าว และคณะจากกรมการกงสุลเข้าร่วมการประชุมคณะผู้เชี่ยวชาญว่าด้วยการตรวจลงตรา ครั้งที่ 5 ภายใต้กรอบความร่วมมือบิมสเทค (5th Meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Visa Matters) ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ ศรีลังกา โดยมีนาย Chaminda Pathiraja อธิบดีกรมตรวจคนเข้าเมืองและการย้ายถิ่นฐานศรีลังกา เป็นประธานการประชุม และมีผู้แทนหน่วยงานด้านการตรวจลงตราและตรวจคนเข้าเมืองจากบังกลาเทศ ภูฏาน อินเดีย เมียนมา เนปาล และศรีลังกาเข้าร่วมด้วย
การประชุมฯ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพิจารณาร่างเอกสารด้านการอำนวยความสะดวกการตรวจลงตราในกลุ่มประเทศสมาชิก เพื่อส่งเสริมการเดินทางในภูมิภาค การเชื่อมโยงในระดับประชาชน และความสัมพันธ์อันดี โดยประเทศสมาชิกต่างเห็นพ้องในหลักการและประโยชน์โดยรวมของการพัฒนากลไกดังกล่าว ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้การดำเนินงานเป็นไปอย่างรอบคอบในทุกมิติ ฝ่ายเลขานุการบิมสเทคจะจัดส่งร่างเอกสารที่ผ่านการพิจารณาในการประชุมครั้งนี้ให้ประเทศสมาชิกพิจารณาเพิ่มเติมอีกครั้ง ก่อนนำเสนอต่อกลไกของบิมสเทคที่เกี่ยวข้องต่อไป
DDG of the Department of Consular Affairs Attends the 5th Meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Visa Matters in Colombo, Sri Lanka
On 18–19 November 2025, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, together with Mr. Sunh Arunrugstichai, Director of the Visa and Travel Documents Division, and officials from the Department, attended the 5th Meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Visa Matters held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Chaminda Pathiraja, Controller General of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka, and was attended by representatives from immigration and visa authorities of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
The meeting’s main focus was to consider a draft document on visa facilitation among BIMSTEC Member States, aimed to enhance convenience for regional travel, promote people-to-people connectivity, and strengthen relations. The Member States expressed their agreement in principle and recognized the collective benefits of developing such mechanism. However, to ensure the comprehensiveness of the process, BIMSTEC Secretariat will circulate the revised draft reflecting the discussions at this meeting for the Member States’ further consideration, before presenting the final version to the relevant BIMSTEC mechanism.
