เมื่อวันที่ 24 มกราคม 2569 นายบัญชา ยืนยงจงเจริญ รองอธิบดีกรมการกงสุล และคณะ ได้ร่วมสังเกตการณ์หน่วยเลือกตั้งเคลื่อนที่ของสถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ที่โรงแรม Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney เป็นวันที่สอง พบว่า มีผู้มาใช้สิทธิฯ กันอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยรองอธิบดีบัญชาฯ ได้ให้สัมภาษณ์กับสำนักข่าวไทยรัฐทีวีถึงบรรยากาศภาพรวมของการจัดเลือกตั้งฯ ของสถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ที่ดำเนินไปด้วยความราบรื่น
ในช่วงบ่ายของวันเดียวกัน รองอธิบดีฯ พร้อมกับนายอนันต์ สุวรรณรัตน์ กรรมการการเลือกตั้ง และนายนฤชัย นินนาท กงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ให้สัมภาษณ์สดกับสำนักข่าว SBS ในออสเตรเลียถึงภาพรวมและข้อท้าทายของการจัดการเลือกตั้งฯ และได้ร่วมพบปะกับผู้นำชุมชนไทยที่ Makro’s Restaurant Sydney เพื่อรับฟังและแลกเปลี่ยนความเห็นในประเด็นเกี่ยวเนื่องกับงานกงสุลและการจัดการเลือกตั้งและลงประชามตินอกราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งสมาชิกชุมชนไทยได้ให้ข้อคิดเห็นในหลากหลายประเด็นที่เป็นประโยชน์ในการพัฒนาการจัดการเลือกตั้งและการลงประชามติฯ ให้ดียิ่งขึ้นต่อไปในอนาคต
รองอธิบดีฯ ย้ำถึงบทบาทของกรมการกงสุลในการเสริมสร้างชุมชนไทยในต่างประเทศให้เข้มแข็งด้วยนโยบาย 5H ภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ 5S/5มี ในการดูแลชุมชนไทยให้ได้รับความปลอดภัยจากภัยพิบัติต่างๆ และเป็นชุมชนไทยที่มีเกียรติมีศักดิ์ศรีที่สอดคล้องกับแผนแม่บทภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ชาติด้านการต่างประเทศ (พ.ศ. 2561 – 2580) โดยกรมการกงสุลได้จัดสรรงบประมาณประจำปี 2569 ให้แก่สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ นครซิดนีย์ จำนวน 5 โครงการ ครอบคลุมทั้งในด้านการดูแลสุขภาพกายและสุขภาพจิต การให้คำปรึกษาและบริการด้านกฎหมาย การส่งเสริมภาษาและวัฒนธรรมไทย การสนับสนุนการจัดกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของวัดไทย ชุมชน และสมาคมคนไทยต่าง ๆ ที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อชุมชนไทยในรัฐนิวเซาท์เวลส์
กรมการกงสุลได้นำนวัตกรรมระบบเฝ้าติดตามการจัดการเลือกตั้งและออกเสียงประชามตินอกราชอาณาจักรมาใช้ยกระดับการจัดการเลือกตั้งฯ ให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น พร้อมนี้ รองอธิบดีบัญชาฯ ได้เชิญชวนผู้ที่ยังไม่ได้ใช้สิทธิฯ รีบมาใช้สิทธิฯ ให้ครบ 100 % ได้ที่โรงแรม Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney ได้จนถึงวันที่ 26 มกราคม 2569 เวลา 17.00 น. (ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น) เพราะขณะนี้เหลือเวลาอีกเพียง 2 วันเท่านั้น

DDG of the Department of Consular Affairs campaigns Thai nationals worldwide to participate in the Overseas Election and Meets with Thai Community in Sydney
On 24 January 2026, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General (DDG) of the Department of Consular Affairs, and his delegation observed the second day of voting at the mobile election unit of the Royal Thai Consulate -General in Sydney at the Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney. Voters continued to turn out consistently. During the visit, DDG Bancha gave an interview to Thairath TV, highlighting the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney’s smooth operation and the positive atmosphere.
In the afternoon, DDG Bancha, alongside Mr. Anan Suwannarat, Election Commissioner, and Mr. Naruchai Ninnad, Consul-General in Sydney, gave a live interview to SBS News Australia regarding the overview and challenges of managing the overseas election. Following the interview, the delegation met with Thai community leaders at Makro’s Restaurant Sydney to exchange views on consular services and the administration of overseas elections and referendums. Many community members provided valuable feedback and insights that will contribute to further improving the management of future elections and referendums.
DDG Bancha emphasized the Department of Consular Affairs' role in strengthening Thai communities abroad through the "5H" policy under the "5S" Strategy, aimed at ensuring that Thai communities are protected from disasters and live with honor and dignity abroad. This approach aligns with the National Strategy on Foreign Affairs (2018–2037). To support this, the Department of Consular Affairs has allocated a 2026 fiscal budget to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney for five key projects. These projects cover physical and mental healthcare, legal counseling and services, the promotion of Thai language and culture, and support for activities organized by Thai temples, communities, and associations that benefit Thai nationals in New South Wales.
Regarding this election, the Department of Consular Affairs has introduced an Overseas Voting Monitoring System (OVMS) to enhance the efficiency of the voting process. In addition, DDG Bancha invited those who have not yet voted to come and exercise their rights to achieve 100% turnout. Voting remains open at the Metro Hotel Marlow Sydney until 26 January 2026 at 17:00 (local time). Currently, there are only two days remaining.
