เมื่อวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม 2569 นายบัญชา ยืนยงจงเจริญ รองอธิบดีกรมการกงสุล พร้อมด้วยนางสาวปิยพร ภู่ธนพันธ์ อุปทูต สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงไนโรบี นายอำนาจ พละพลีวัลย์ ผู้อำนวยการกองคุ้มครองและดูแลผลประโยชน์คนไทยในต่างประเทศ กรมการกงสุล และผู้แทนจากสำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง กระทรวงการพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์ สำนักงานคณะกรรมการป้องกันและปราบปรามยาเสพติด และกลุ่มงานความมั่นคง สำนักงานปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ พบหารือกับนาง Jane N-Yandora ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายเอกสารการเดินทาง สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมืองเคนยา เพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับมาตรการตรวจคัดกรองผู้ที่จะเดินทางเข้าไทยและเคนยาเพื่อสกัดกั้นขบวนการนำพาและล่อลวงคนไทยและคนเคนยาไปทำงานผิดกฎหมายและลักลอบขนยาเสพติดที่เคนยาและไทยหรือเดินทางผ่านไปยังประเทศที่สาม
ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องว่าปัญหาดังกล่าวเป็นปัญหาอาชญากรรมข้ามชาติที่ต้องเพิ่มความเข้มงวดในการคัดกรองคนชาติที่จะเดินทางเข้าไทยและเคนยาโดยใช้วีซ่าผิดวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อลักลอบทำงานและอาจตกเป็นผู้เสียหายจากการค้ามนุษย์ และแสดงความพร้อมที่จะประสานความร่วมมือกันในการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวกรองของผู้เดินทางระหว่างสำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง การยกระดับมาตรการคัดกรองที่ท่าอากาศยานต้นทางและปลายทาง รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนเทคโนโลยีด้านฐานข้อมูลการเดินทางล่วงหน้าเพื่อเฝ้าระวังนักเดินทางที่มีความเสี่ยงที่จะตกเป็นผู้เสียหายจากการค้ามนุษย์และลักลอบขนยาเสพติดเข้าประเทศต่อไป
นอกจากนี้ เมื่อวันที่ 30 พฤษภาคม 2569 กรมการกงสุลร่วมกับสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงไนโรบี จัดกิจกรรมพบปะคนไทยและเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งของชุมชนไทยในเคนยาโดยเชิญคนไทยที่พำนักและประกอบอาชีพในเคนยา ร่วมรับประทานอาหารกลางวัน โดยคนไทยส่วนใหญ่เป็นคู่สมรสของชาวต่างชาติในเคนยา เจ้าหน้าที่องค์การระหว่างประเทศที่มีสำนักงานอยู่ในกรุงไนโรบีและแม่ครัว ทั้งนี้ คนไทยในเคนยามีความใกล้ชิดกับสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตฯ อย่างสม่ำเสมอ ในโอกาสนี้ ผอ. อำนาจฯ ได้แนะนำแอปพลิเคชัน Thai Consular ให้แก่คนไทยในเคนยาเพื่อเป็นช่องทางในการขอรับความช่วยเหลือและติดตามประกาศแจ้งเตือนจากกรมการกงสุลกรณีเกิดเหตุฉุกเฉิน

The Consular Department and the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi strengthen relations with Directorate of Immigration Services, Kenya and the Thai community.
On 29 May 2026, Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, together with Ms. Piyaporn Putanapan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi, Mr. Amnat Phalapleewan, Director of the Division for Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad, Department of Consular Affairs and team, representatives from the Immigration Bureau, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, and the International Security Unit of of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held discussions with Ms. Jane N-Yandora, Director of Travel Documents, Directorate of Immigration Services (DIS).
The meeting was focused on measures for screening travellers entering Thailand and Kenya in order to disrupt criminal networks involved in the recruitment, transportation, and deception of Thai and Kenyan nationals for illegal employment, as well as the trafficking of illicit drugs in Thailand and Kenya or onward to third countries.
Both sides agreed that these issues constituting forms of transnational organized crime and underscored the necessity to strengthen the screening of their respective nationals travelling to Thailand and Kenya on visas used for purposes inconsistent with their stated intentions, particularly where such travel may facilitate illegal employment and increase the risk of individuals becoming victims of human trafficking.
The two sides also expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation through the exchange of traveller-related intelligence between their respective immigration authorities, the strengthening of screening measures at points of departure and arrival, and the sharing of technologies relating to advance travel information databases. Such cooperation would support efforts to identify and monitor travellers at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking or being involved in illicit drug trafficking into their respective countries.
In addition, on 30 May 2026, the Department of Consular Affairs, in cooperation with the Royal Thai Embassy in Nairobi, organized an activity to strengthen unity among Thai community in Kenya. The Thai nationals residing and working in Kenya were invited to attend a luncheon at a restaurant in Nairobi. The participants were Thai nationals married to foreign spouses in Kenya, officials of international organizations based in Nairobi, and Thai chefs. The Thai community in Kenya has maintained close ties with the Royal Thai Embassy, and has regularly participated in activities organized by the Embassy.
On this occasion, Director Amnat introduced the Thai Consular mobile application to members of the Thai community in Kenya as a convenient channel for seeking consular assistance and receiving alerts and announcements from the Department of Consular Affairs in case of emergency.
