เมื่อวันที่ 17 สิงหาคม 2569 นางสาวนภามาศ ปัญญาตรง หัวหน้าสำนักงานหนังสือเดินทางฯ เชียงใหม่ เข้าร่วมงานแถลงข่าวกิจกรรม “MU Month” เชียงใหม่ เดือนกันยายน 2569 ที่ ศิริปันนา วิลล่า รีสอร์ท แอนด์ สปา เชียงใหม่ จัดขึ้นเพื่อตอบโจทย์สายมู ส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวสายศรัทธา และสร้างเสริมเศรษฐกิจชุมชน โดยมีนายรัฐพล นราดิศร ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เป็นประธาน และมีนายกสมาคมธุรกิจท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ หัวหน้าส่วนราชการ ภาคเอกชน ผู้ประกอบการด้านการท่องเที่ยว และสื่อมวลชน เข้าร่วมงาน

กิจกรรม “MU Month” จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เป็นโครงการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงความเชื่อและศรัทธาที่จัดขึ้นต่อเนื่องเป็นปีที่ 3 โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักงานการท่องเที่ยวและกีฬาจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ มุ่งสร้างขวัญกำลังใจและความเป็นสิริมงคล ส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวตามกระแส “ศรัทธาและสายมู” ควบคู่กับการเชื่อมโยงประวัติศาสตร์ วัฒนธรรม และวิถีชีวิตท้องถิ่น ตลอดจนกระจายรายได้สู่ชุมชน กิจกรรมหลักในปีนี้ ได้แก่ ไหว้พระธาตุ 25 พระธาตุ 25 อำเภอของจังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เพื่อสะสมตราประทับประจำพระธาตุตามเส้นทางแห่งศรัทธาในเล่ม Mu Passport ของแต่ละคน ระหว่างวันที่ 1 กันยายน - 31 ธันวาคม 2569 อีกทั้งมีพิธีมงคลาภิเษกเหรียญโชคดีและพิธีเสริมมงคลสะเดาะนพเคราะห์ 12 ราศี ในวันที่ 9 กันยายน 2569 ที่วัดพระสิงห์วรมหาวิหาร กิจกรรมตักบาตรโชติกาทุกวันเสาร์ของเดือนกันยายน 2569 เวลา 07.00 น. ที่วัดเจดีย์หลวงวรวิหาร โครงการจิตตภาวนา ระหว่างวันที่ 4 - 12 กันยายน 2569 ที่โรงแรมศรีปันนาฯ รวมถึงนิทรรศการและงานประกวดพระเครื่องพระบูชาไทยและเหรียญคณาจารย์ยอดนิยมทั่วประเทศ ระหว่างวันที่ 19 - 20 กันยายน 2569 ที่ศูนย์การค้าเซ็นทรัล เชียงใหม่ แอร์พอร์ต

"มู" ย่อมาจากคำว่า "มูเตลู" สันนิษฐานว่า คนไทยนำมาจากบทพูดในภาพยนตร์เกี่ยวกับไสยศาสตร์และการร่ายคาถาของอินโดนีเซีย โดยนำมาใช้หมายความถึงความเชื่อเรื่องโชคชะตา การเสริมดวง การบูชาสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ไสยศาสตร์ และเครื่องรางของขลัง

On 17 August 2026, Ms. Napamas Panyatrong, Chief of Chiang Mai Passport Office, participated in the press briefing promoting “MU Month” Chiang Mai, September 2026, at Siripanna Villa Resort and Spa Chiang Mai. This event is catered to those who believe in faith, luck, rituals and worship sacred objects or deities to manifest wealth, health, love and success in life. The event is aimed to promote spiritual tourism and enhance the local economy. The press briefing was presided over by Mr. Rattanaphon Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai, and attended by the president of Chiang Mai Tourism Business Association, chiefs of provincial agencies, the private sector, tourism entrepreneurs and members of the press.

“Mu Month” Chiang Mai is a project promoting belief and faith tourism, which has been organised for the third consecutive year with support from Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports. It is aimed to boost morale and auspiciousness; promote tourism according to faith and spiritual trends; connect history, cultures and local lifestyles; as well as distribute income to local communities. The main activity this year is paying respect to 25 Buddha’s relics in 25 districts of Chiang Mai and collect stamps from each sacred place in a personal “MU Passport” during 1 September - 31 December 2026. Other activities include auspicious ceremonies on 9 September 2026 at Phra Singh temple, almsgiving every Saturdays of September 2026 at 07.00 hrs. at Chedi Luang temple, meditation exercise during 4 - 12 September 2026 at Siripanna Resort, as well as an exhibition and a competition of Thai Buddha amulets and famous Buddhist monk coin amulets from across the country during 19 - 20 September 2026 at Central Chiangmai Airport.

“MU” is an abbreviation of the word “Mutelu,” which is hypothetically derived from a dialogue in an Indonesian movie about superstition and spell casting. Thai people adopted the word with a meaning of their beliefs in fortune, luck enhancement, sacred object worship, superstition and talisman.
