โดยทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือในประเด็นความร่วมมือด้านการกงสุล และการเข้าเป็นภาคีอนุสัญญา Apostille ของไทยในปีหน้า และแนวทางการจัดการปัญหาคนชาติถูกจับเป็นตัวประกันของไทย และฝ่ายแคนาดาได้นำเสนอ Report of the Independent International Panel (IIP) on Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations

On 11 November 2025 at the Department of Consular Affairs, Ms. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Deputy Director-General, Acting Director-General of Department of Consular Affairs, and Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General, Department of Consular Affairs had a consultation meeting with Ms. Kati Csaba, Director-General of Consular Affairs, Global Affairs Canada at the Department.
Both sides exchanged views in various issues related to consular cooperation, including the Embassy of Canada in Bangkok’s plan to discontinuing issuance of Non-impediment to Marriage Documents and other alternatives, Thailand’s accession to the Apostille Convention next year, as well as other areas of cooperation including their approaches in dealing with the issue of their nationals being taken hostage. The Canadian side took this opportunity to introduce the Report of the Independent International Panel (IIP) on Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations.
