เมื่อวันที่ 10 ตุลาคม 2568 อธิบดีกรมการกงสุล ให้การต้อนรับนายวาฮ์ตัง ยาออชวีลี เอกอัครราชทูตจอร์เจียประจำประเทศไทย (ถิ่นพำนัก ณ กรุงนิวเดลี) ในโอกาสเข้าเยี่ยมคารวะอธิบดีกรมการกงสุล โดยมีนายบัญชา ยืนยงจงเจริญ รองอธิบดีกรมการกงสุล เข้าร่วมหารือด้วย ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือในประเด็นต่าง ๆ เกี่ยวกับความร่วมมือด้านกงสุล อาทิ การคุ้มครองและดูแลคนชาติ ความช่วยเหลือของไทยในการออกเอกสารเดินทางให้แก่คนจอร์เจียที่ทำหนังสือเดินทางสูญหายและการส่งเสริมการปฏิสัมพันธ์ระดับประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ เป็นต้น
ปัจจุบัน มีคนไทยพำนักอยู่ในจอร์เจียประมาณ 650 คน และในปี 2567 มีนักท่องเที่ยวจอร์เจียเดินทางมายังประเทศไทยประมาณ 17,000 คน
Ambassador of Georgia to Thailand calls on Director-General of Department of Consular Affairs
On 10 October 2025, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs welcomed H.E. Mr. Vakhtang Jaoshvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Thailand (Residence in New Delhi) on the occasion of a courtesy call on the Director-General. Mr. Bancha Yuenyongchongcharoen, Deputy Director-General of the Department also attended this meeting. Both sides discussed various consular cooperation issues, including the protection of own nationals, Thailand’s assistance in issuing emergency certificates for Georgian citizens who lost their passports in Thailand, and promoting people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
There are currently about 650 Thai nationals residing in Georgia and about 17,000 Georgian tourists visited Thailand in 2024.
